Yesel Hong
Yesel Hong was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1989. She started playing piano at the early age of four and continued her studies both at the Academy of Music in Mainz and the Conservatoire in Mannheim with Prof. Peter Eicher in 1995.
Later she studied at the Chungbuk Highschool of Arts in Korea with Prof. Won-suk Hur. Since April 2008, she forms part of the piano class of Prof. Robert Benz at the University of Music in Mannheim. Her musical education in Korea as well as in Germany gives the young pianist an extraordinary diversity.
Yesel Hong has won many awards in Korea and in Germany, among which, multiple First Prizes at the competition Youth Makes Music. She took numerous master classes with Prof. Igor Lazko, Lev Natochenny, Young-Ho Kim, Gerrit Zitterbart, Bernd Goetzke and Hinrich Alpers amongst others.
In her musical career Yesel Hong has been invited to give plenty of both Solo and Chamber Music Concerts in her home country as well as abroad. Since 2012, she is a Scholarship Holder of the prestigious YEHUDI MENUHIN Live Music Now - Foundation. Additionally, she has been granted a scholarship from the Richard-Wagner-Stipendienstiftung in 2014.
